Light and Love
To me all holidays
are alike, because
they merge and mean
that what is good
to do on any day
is just more likely
to get done,
such as saying
“I love you!”
to one I might not
otherwise get
around to telling.

My New Telescope
Presence of the dead
this morning
is more palpable
than usual.
When I heard
that my friend Vance
had died after
his long and valiant
struggle, my first
impulse was to take
my telescope out
into the yard
and look for him
among the stars.
