Write about Unions
Western Friend seeks articles, essays and reflections on Unions.
Among Friends the sense of Union and Unity is an important guiding force. Meeting for Business asks “Has the Meeting reached Unity?” Seeking membership to a meeting can be seen as a union between the self and the collective. The Union between two people in a marriage is taken under the care of the meeting, binding the collective to the union in ways both sacred and practical.
Queries to consider:
How do you nurture Union with Spirit? What challenges do you face in finding unity between your "head, heart and feet"?
Is there a sense of Union that is a guiding force in your life: to a group, a partner, or a vocation?
If you were called to Membership: what were the thoughts, feelings and actions that let to your Union with the Religious Society of Friends.
As a Friend have you been involved in Union organizing and how has your faith influenced that?
Do you have specific memories from your Quaker wedding that exemplify your Union as being woven into the tapestry of your community? What does it mean for a marriage to be under the care of a meeting?
The Deadline is October 1st. Have something brief to share? A little noticing? Send me a letter to the editor!
Warmly,
Caitlin
