Teach English to Guatemalans

~

Dear Friends of Progresa and the Teaching English Program:

We sincerely appreciate your continuing support of the Teaching English Program. What follows is an update on the 2022 Teaching English Program based on decisions made by our Board of Directors:

  1. The 2022 program will again be virtual. Due to the age of most of our volunteers and the low level of community immunization in Guatemala, we have decided not to go ahead with an in-person program. We received input from those currently in Guatemala and medical personnel. This was a hard decision to make, but the lives of our students, their families, and our volunteers have priority over all else.
  2. The Virtual Teaching English Program will take place for five days, from December 5 to December 9.  We have been able to provide a high-quality experience for the last two years with well-paced instruction, individual tutoring and cultural sharing. Shortly, our planning committee of experienced instructors will begin planning the event.
  3. We hope that you will be able to participate as a tutor this year. We will be accepting applications from volunteers until October 20, 2022. Our students are counting on all of us to continue supporting their growth in English and making new friends along the way.
  4. If you want to participate, please contact Progresa Director Miguel Costop before October 20, 2022.
  5. We request our volunteers a minimum donation of $300 which will cover some expenses during the workshop and to sponsor one student at Progresa in 2023.
  6. For additional information, please contact Progresa Director Miguel Costop.
