The Internet Archive – “a non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites and more” – is the host of Western Friend’s online “Deep Archive” of back issues of Western Friend and Friends Bulletin, reaching back to 1929.
Like almost all public libraries in the U.S. today, the nonprofit Internet Archive is suffering from attacks that are intended to limit its public reach.
This week, the Internet Archive shared good news about some welcome public support:
Last Tuesday, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to pass Supervisor Connie Chan's resolution supporting digital libraries and the Internet Archive. Activists, archivists, and concerned citizens rallied at the San Francisco City Hall on Tuesday morning to promote the resolution and show support for digital libraries.
