New Hires at Woolman
~
New Programs Director: Bethany Thomas
Please welcome our new Camp Programs Director Bethany Thomas! Bethany will be leading Woolman camps and educational programming as we move out of the Covid crisis and back to hosting youth, families and adults on campus. She has a degree in Wildlife and Fishery Sciences from Penn State and 8 years of experience in outdoor youth education, running summer youth camp and outdoor schools in our community. Previously she worked for Shady Creek Outdoor School (Sutter School District) and for the Girl Scouts. We are grateful (and lucky!) to have her on staff.
New Farm Manager: Malaika Bishop
Welcome back to Malaika Bishop (JWS in '92-93) who will be joining us for the rest of the year to restore the Woolman Farm from the devastation of the Jones Fire and from years being out of productivity. We hope to be back into limited production in the fall. Malaika is often referred to as the Woolman Farm "founder" who expanded our small garden patch to a bountiful student-run farm business. Malaika will once again be expanding the farm footprint, rebuilding the hoop house, greenhouse, wash bay, and tool shed, and improving the fertility of the soil. Our goal is to once again supply locally-grown, organic produce to the Dining Hall for all who stay on campus as part of our Retreats, Camp and Workshops programs.
