Ellie Bundy, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) Councilwoman, will give a presentation for Quakers and other interested people on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP). Ellie Bundy is an active member of the CSKT program on MMIP and was just elected to serve as the presiding officer of the Montana Missing Indigenous Task Force. The CKST, in conjunction with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the MMIP Coordinator for the District of Montana, and federal and state Law Enforcement, has completed a Tribal Community Response Plan (TCRP) for MMIP which will be used as a national model by tribal communities. The tragedy of missing and murdered indigenous people is a harsh and devastating reality faced by Native Americans nationwide. This effort is the first comprehensive tribal response plan to address this tragedy. The plan focuses not only on law enforcement but also on victim services, community outreach, the media and public communication. Ellie will provide an overview of MMIP, describe the components of the TCRP and discuss ways Quakers and others can assist tribes in addressing this terrible tragedy.
