In October, 16-year-old Shadi Khouri was kidnapped from his home in Palestine by Israeli soldiers and placed in detention without explanation. Khouri, a student of Ramallah Friends School (RFS), was recently released. But this incident is just one example of the systematic abuse felt by Palestinian people living under occupation.
FCNL’s Legislative Director for Middle East Policy Hassan El-Tayyab recently visited Ramallah Friends School as he traveled through Israel and occupied Palestinian territory.
For our December Quaker Changemaker event, Hassan will join Rania Maayeh, head of Ramallah Friends School, for a conversation about his experience and the school’s work in the occupied territory. FCNL’s Quaker Engagement Program Manager Bobby Trice will moderate.
Ramallah Friends School is an important center not only for education based on Quaker faith and practice, but also for refugee support, medical aid, and community gathering.
