Donation Request – Hospice for Unhoused

Published: Aug. 17, 2024

Dear Friends,

I am a long-time member of Sacramento Friends Meeting in Sacramento, CA,

After a seven-year journey filled with challenges, a new nonprofit facility will open in Sacramento in the Fall of 2024 – Joshua's House, a hospice community for terminally ill and homeless individuals, which we are developing in partnership with local healthcare providers (Sutter Health, UC Davis Health, Dignity Health, and Kaiser Permanente).

Hospice care cannot be delivered on the street. Men and women who are both terminally ill and homeless lack options about where to die. They are diagnosed and treated in hospital emergency departments, then discharged back onto the streets.

Joshua’s House will change that by providing such individuals with comfort care, clothing, shelter, food, and compassion. Our local health-system partners will provide quality hospice care.

We are asking for your help now, so we can stay on schedule and open this fall.
