Join Quakers Uniting in Publications (QUIP) for an interactive webinar:
In this webinar, Tom Hamm will look at the nature of Quaker writing and publishing from the 1650s to the present day. He will focus on issues that Friends sought to advance through their publications, and how they have changed and reflected the diversity of Friends in the past two centuries.
Thomas Hamm is Professor of History and Director of Special Collections at Earlham College, where he has been on the faculty since 1987. A lifelong Friend, he is a member of West Richmond Meeting in the New Association of Friends. He has written extensively on Quaker history. His books include The Transformation of American Quakerism: Orthodox Friends, 1800-1907 (Indiana University Press, 1988); The Quakers in America (Columbia University Press, 2003); Quaker Writings, 1650-1920 (Penguin Classics; and, most recently, Liberal Quakers in America in the Long Nineteenth Century, 1790-1920 (Brill, 2020).
