Hello from QEW's Operations & Administrative Assistant

It is with much excitement that I write to you today. My name is Sofia Di Pietro (they/she) and I recently began working with QEW as the new Operations & Administrative Assistant. I began my career in the non-profit sector as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Philadelphia, and most recently served as the Quaker Engagement Coordinator with the American Friends Service Committee.

Although I was introduced to Quakerism through my mother, a convinced Friend, I feel that I truly found my place in the Quaker community after meeting other Young Adult Friends for the first time during a retreat at the Ben Lomond Quaker Center in 2023. A year later I decided to move to Santa Cruz, California. 

I work also as a barista at a lively and wonderful coffee shop in my town. When I'm not working you can find me reading in the sunshine, swimming in the ocean and appreciating the biodiversity of the west coast, and connecting with friends and loved ones over a good meal. 

I am grateful to join the team at QEW, and look forward to contributing to their work towards a sustainable and more equitable future for all.
