Following the leading of Friend Kim Lacey, Central Coast Friends is sponsoring the San Luis Obispo Overdose Awareness event on August 29th, 2019, 6:30-8:00pm at the SLO Library Community Room.
The opioid and overdose crisis touches so many lives, including those of our families, our friends, and colleagues. The Centers for Disease Control has reported that U.S. life expectancy has declined, due to the alarming increase in accidental drug overdoses and suicide.
The goal of this event is to increase awareness of the growing problem, and reduce the stigma surrounding overdose and addiction, which will allow for better treatment, and acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends.
This event will include a tabling fair with six local agencies sharing information about overdose and local services, a training in the use of Narcan/Naloxone to reverse overdose and save lives, and a candle lighting service to remember loved ones led by Hospice of SLO County.
All are welcome!
