Dear Friends,

About six months ago, Mungu Timo Meeting in Kiwenda, Uganda, experienced the loss of our assistant clerk. He suffered psychological torture when he could not access post-care treatment when he visited the local clinic after surgery. He was informed that LGBTQi services are not allowed, hence he was rejected services.

Mungu Timo Meeting in Kiwenda gathers under an overcade tree. We receive support from a friend who offers space for Sunday meeting. We sit on greengrass

We need to secure a permanent home. We have the land where we can establish our permanent home. However, we shall need to construct a shade or at least purchase a big tent.

Mungu Timo is open, affirming, and welcoming to all. We receive LGBTQi pesons, sex workers, and those without families. It’s a place where they feel like they won’t be judged, a place where their hopes are renewed, and they live for another day.

Our meeting has given such people a platform to speak, reflect on life, encourage them to do self-evaluation, and listen to the soul. As a spiritual place, we have seen lives changed for the better. Whenever members speak out, sometimes we have been able to solve problems that had tortured their souls internally for years. Mungu Timo has offered an alternative to locals who have been abused by their churches, exploited by words of fear, judged by priests and pastors, put in a life of guilt, sin, and punishment.

Our team is growing and every Thursday we meet and share dinner. Each dinner costs about 1000 Ugandan shillings (UGX) or about 25-35 cents US.

Mungu Timo Meeting seeks financial support from Friends in the United States to help with several projects. We want to provide shelter for the meeting. A big tent with chairs would cost about $2700 US. We want to provide full-time health support to the community. Also, we are directly supporting 67 children, and we need some financial support for their feeding, clothing, education, and health care.
