Dear Friends: This international debate from the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) will be very interesting, I warrant. In addition to moderating, the idea for this debate came from our own Stan Becker of Quaker Earthcare Witness.

Debate Proposition
The population of humans that can be supported sustainably on the planet at a reasonable standard of living is below 4 billion. – Yes or No?

Debate Details
Four debaters will take turns debating alternately in favor of one of the two positions:

• Anastasia Pseiridis and Frank Götmark will argue "Yes.”
• Timothy Guinnane and Jacques Emina will argue "No."
• The webinar will be introduced by IUSSP President Shireen Jejeebhoy and moderated by Stan Becker.
• Joel Cohen will offer some background to frame the debate and Suzana Cavenaghi will provide a summary of the debate at the end.

The webinar will include Q&A with the audience, who will be invited to cast their vote in favor of one of the arguments before and after the debate.
