Amigas news: Annette Update
Well, I promised you there would be more about Annette, our aspirant from Haiti. Here goes.
Annette is living in Jamaica right now. We (Sister Confianza and a RC travel agent) have been trying to figure out how to get her here. Not simple. It seems that most nations have one visa law for most persons and a different one for Haitians. As you may imagine, Annette takes offense at this. She loves her country.
Sister Confianza wrote to Annette in WhatsApp, "Haiti is the poorest country in the hemisphere, and Honduras and Nicaragua are the second and third poorest. We are all treated badly."
Annette replied: "My sister -- Haiti, my dear country, is not poorer and they know it is a lie they are telling. Haiti does not have good leaders; big countries do what they want to us. Let's see together: Is Haiti making weapons? Is Haiti in war? Where do all these big weapons come from, my sister? That is why I love countries that are similar to me, who suffer just like me, who understand my suffering. They [the big countries] have great power in their hands and they think they are gods for that."
Right now, it looks as though Annette must get her police record (in Jamaica), a yellow fever immunization, and a medical check up.
