We at The Friends Library have undertaken first to gather together, restore, and digitize early Quaker documents (written between 1650 and 1890), and then to freely offer them to the world in convenient eBook, paperback, and audio formats.
Our 184 books are available for free download in multiple editions and digital formats, and a growing number of them are also recorded as audiobooks. Or, if you prefer, order a paperback — you pay only and exactly what it costs us to have them printed and shipped to you.
Interested in reading something from the early Quakers, but picking from 184 books seems daunting? No worries – we’ve selected some of our favorite books and arranged them into four categories: history, doctrine spiritual life, and journals.

It is our hope that the spiritually hungry and dissatisfied seekers of our day will find in these books the footsteps of men and women who truly walked the narrow path that leads to life.
