Dear Editor:

The July/August issue is a stunner from cover to cover. I was especially arrested by the pieces by Amanda Beattie et al. on the matter of (in)visibility of Friends of Color and Anna Fritz’s piece on performance. These pieces go together, as your juxtaposition of them indicates. It is important for us to know and claim the truth, but it is also important to practice the truth, to perform it, to risk making a mistake or expressing oneself clumsily. Every witness is necessary, and every witness must be made.
