Dear Friends and Supporters: The Board of Western Friend magazine wants to let you know some news.

Mary Klein joined us as Editor ten years ago. In those ten years, her skills, knowledge, and insight have brought the Western Friend project places we could not have imagined in 2013: podcasts, online discussions about pressing issues among Friends, deep relationship-building within and among Yearly Meetings. And underpinning it all, a wide-ranging, thought-provoking magazine that helps us reflect on ourselves, our concerns, and the cutting edges of our faith.

Ever the planner, Mary has let us know that she will be completing her work with Western Friend at the end of 2024. As a Board, we are grateful she has given us the time to deeply consider the needs and priorities of the organization before we begin the process of hiring our next editor. We are equally grateful that Mary will be actively supporting us during the planning and transition process.

Nothing is changing yet. Right now, we just want to let those who care about the magazine know what’s going on. We anticipate there will be opportunities to offer input into the transition process as it unfolds. In the meantime, if you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact our Board Clerk, Lucretia Humphrey, at lucretiamh[at]gmail[dot]com, or our Governance Committee Clerk, Nancy Wilkinson, at nancyw76[at]icloud[dot]com.

In the Light,
Lucretia Humphrey, Clerk
Nancy Wilkinson, Governance Committee Clerk
