In a moment when many Americans are seeking peace of mind, this statistic is alarming: nearly 70% of American adults don’t have an updated legal will.
Given the challenges I know many people are facing, a will may not feel like a top priority. But August is “National Make-a-Will Month,” and it’s a good opportunity to complete this important task, protect the things you care about, and find some much-needed peace of mind.
Southern Poverty Law Center wants to help by promoting this free tool to write your legal will.
Since 2017, Free Will has empowered over 150,000 Americans to write their wills, and has been featured in Forbes, the New York Times, and Oprah’s 31 Best Ways to Make a Difference.
In line with our mission of creating equal opportunity for all, this free resource is accessible for all: it removes the expensive legal fees often associated with the process, meaning that you can write your will and plan for your future in 20 minutes or less, for free.
