We on the Quaker Call Steering Committee feel the urgency of the moment, as the rule of law is being thwarted, and our democracy is being dismantled in Washington. We invite Friends to come together to worship and to share actions being taken by your meeting or yourself, as well as to offer success stories and ideas that Friends might consider in their own communities.

Our Quaker practice of grounded spiritual discernment brings strength to our actions. Please join us to learn from, and to support one another, during these threatening times.

We find these words of Caroline Fox to be comforting and instructive. Caroline, who at the age of 21 in 1840 went to meeting in a state of great depression, later wrote this in her journal:

“I seemed to hear the words articulated in my spirit, ‘Live up to the Light thou hast, and more will be granted thee.’ Then I believed that God speaks to woman and man by his Spirit. I strove to lead a more Christian life, in unison with what I knew to be right, and looked for brighter days, not forgetting the blessings that are granted in prayer.”
