In recognition of the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent (2015 - 2024) and the International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development (2018-2028), the United Nations Working Group of Quaker Earthcare Witness (QEW), will convene a virtual side event during the 2024 UN High-level Political Forum.
The side event will include a keynote presentation by Dwight L. Wilson, and participant discussion on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with special attention given to Sustainable Development Goal 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
We will review Goal 16 and other goals under consideration during the High Level Political Forum, review actions during the decade for people of African descent, and make recommendations to achieve the shared goals of “peace, dignity and equality on a healthy planet.”
