2020 was been a particularly difficult year – with Covid isolation, grappling with the continuing violence against Black people, attacks on immigrants, disruptions in work and school, economic uncertainty, a scary election, wildfires, smoke, an epidemic of houselessness. . . Friends have been asking themselves and each other, “How do we keep our Spiritual balance during these times?”
The Adult Religious Education (ARE) Committee of Multnomah Meeting in Portland, OR, has asked Friends who have been recognized by the Meeting for their ministry to share their stories of spiritual endurance. How did they find their calling? How did they recognize it? What spiritual struggles, joys, gifts, and connections can they share from the practice of staying committed and hopeful with a challenging ministry? How do they stay spiritually grounded over the long haul?
Our first presenter in this series will be Joe Snyder, who will share his journey in ministry, with its challenges and insights. Those who attend will be invited to reflect and share their experiences with spiritual resilience. All are welcome.
