During the 19th century, Quakers operated some 30 boarding schools in collaboration with the federal government’s policy of forced assimilation of Native children. As Native communities work to heal from generations of trauma, how are Quakers approaching acknowledgment, apology, and reparative actions?
Speakers from New England Yearly Meeting, Baltimore Yearly Meeting, and Alaska Friends Conference will share how they have discerned and carried out actions with the aim of building new relationships with Native communities based on truth, respect, and justice.
