As nations around the world expand their definition of personhood to include whales, bees, turtles, rivers, and nature as a whole, we will consider questions of universalism with tom kunesh: What effect do these legalistic inclusions of other “things” as beings with personhood have on the theology of “soul”? Are governments developing these concepts faster than religions can keep pace? A conversation about the edges of expanding life-saving universalism.
