Latin American partners of Friends Peace Teams will describe how they have responded to the multiple pandemics of COVID, hunger and violence as well as to the disastrous effects of Hurricanes Eta and Iota.
Friends´ programs in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Ecuador and Colombia have included both direct humanitarian assistance through the Peace Baskets Project, providing emergency food and hygiene items, as well as promotion of sustainable peace through home and community gardens and microenterprises.
In addition, community across borders has blossomed through the proliferation of virtual AVP (Alternatives to Violence Project) workshops which have proven critical to address the mental health crisis provoked by so much trauma.
Come to hear about these initiatives directly and engage in dialogue with those on the ground. Learn what you can do to be part of the community of Friends supporting the creativity and courage of those under greatest duress.
