Memorial minute

Sara Ann Gibson Schwake was born on December 31, 1948 and died May 29, 2016. She is survived by her husband Alan, sons Lucas and Eric, and grandchildren, Shane and Madison.

Sara received an Associate Degree as a Medical Assistant when they lived in Tulsa, although most of her professional life was in secretarial work, at the University of New Mexico, at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon, for the Department of Environmental Quality and for Head Start in Eugene, Oregon.

According to Alan, Sara displayed an interest in Quakers early in their marriage, becoming a member of the Albuquerque Meeting when they lived there. She is still a member of that Meeting, while attending Eugene Friends Meeting for the past several years.

Sara was Clerk of the Library Committee of Eugene Friends Meeting for several years prior to her death. She instituted the first catalog of the books in the library, taking home a few at a time and processing them into an online book inventory, a huge undertaking. She then kept the catalog up to date as books were added and removed as well as other library duties.

Her health was failing toward the end of her life and she was not able to keep up this position.

She was a valued friend as well as a Friend.
