Memorial minute

Lynne Ann Hirsch was born November 17, 1959 to Jack Lamont Hirsch, Sr. and Betty Jane Mumma Hirsch. Lynne came from Carson City, Nevada, to Washington State University where she met fellow horticulture student, Eric Ivar Dolph, who came from a Quaker family. In 1983 they married under the care of Pullman/Moscow Friends Meeting. The Dolphs lived in Redmond from 1984 until 1988. Then, following the birth of their son, Axel, they moved back to Eric’s home town of Yakima, WA.

Lynne became a convinced member of Eastside Friends Meeting on July 13, 1984. Later, she and Eric were part of the Yakima Worship Group. A seeker, Lynne explored spiritual traditions but retained her connection to and membership in Eastside Friends Meeting. Over the years, she occasionally attended Eastside Meeting in person, as well as often attending Pacific Northwest Quarterly Meeting. During her last year, she was able to attend Eastside's Meeting for Worship frequently via Zoom as she dealt with failing health. Through it all, Lynne’s cheerful, thoughtful, forward-looking presence was appreciated by those worshipping with her.

Lynne accumulated multiple science and art degrees. She worked as a graphic designer and illustrator, and later taught an art and science at the Yakima Nation Tribal School, and an online school. She had a lively, observant and curious mind, was a talented visual artist, and pursued interests in a variety of creative and artistic crafts.

Lynne Dolph died in hospice care on April 10, 2024 in Yakima, WA. Lynne is survived by her husband Eric, and their son, Axel, his wife, Beth, and her grandson, Gavin.
