Curtis Haugeborg, a loving husband and friend, died at the age of 72. He was born November 25, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa and died in Sacramento on September 15, 2018. He is survived by his partner of 38 years, Michael O’Keefe. He will be remembered for having an extraordinary eye for beauty. He expressed this through his profession as a noted commercial interior designer and in his own home.
Curtis made a difference in this world by loving his husband and friends and giving to social issues. When he gave his commitment to a task or a cause, he gave his all to achieve that goal. Curtis was a lifetime member of the American Civil Liberties Union and donated to many social justice causes. Curtis began attending Sacramento Friends Meeting in 2011 where he found a deep and loving connection with Quakers that mirrored his strong humanitarianism. He will be remembered for his contribution to the Sacramento Friends Meeting Prisoner Packages program. Last year he took on the work himself. He did the work that usually takes several people: Sorting letters, ordering packages, record keeping. He was very committed.
He enjoyed treasure hunting at estate sales, cooking, and he was a gracious host. And above all, he was kind. Once, he stopped the car without a word and went into McDonalds and bought a meal and gave the food to a homeless man sitting against a wall.
Curtis will be missed by all of us to whom he brought blessings of Light and laughter.
