Sierra Cascades Yearly Meeting of Friends (SCYMF) is only a few years old. Not that long ago, most of us were members of Northwest Yearly Meeting (NWYM). After a lengthy conflict, we were informed that we no longer had a place at the family table.

The Messy Ethics of Giving

Why do Quakers soft-pedal the importance of financial giving?  It’s true, our unprogrammed meetings don’t need as much as conventional churches since they typically lack paid staff and large buildings.  But beyond those differences, we seem to be quite uneasy in even bringing up the topic.

Investing in Friends’ Visions

Dear Editor: I read with great interest your interview with Jeff Perkins, the Executive Director of Friends Fiduciary (“The Tension of Money and Faith” in the May/June 2017 issue). Having only recently learned of this non-profit group that is available for Quaker organizations, I was eager to learn more about their common faith and set of values that align with Friends.
