Nancy Dunkle

Nancy Dunkle was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 5, 1945. She died in Lakewood, Colorado on September 18, 2021. Nancy Dunkle is survived by her brother, Bob, and her sister-in-law, Rosemary, and their three children: her three beloved nephews.

Edward W. Wood Jr.

Edward Watson Wood Jr. was born on December 12, 1924 in Florence, Alabama, the only child of Edward Watson Wood and Gertrude Green. The family moved north to Chicago in 1933. Ed inherited the tradition of the “citizen soldier” from an American family that settled in the United States in the 17th century. Out of that tradition, he volunteered for line duty in the Infantry in World War II, leaving behind a safe college billet. In September 1944, during the liberation of France, he was severely wounded by artillery fire, 12 km north of Metz. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service.

Gholam Reza

Gholam Reza was born in Iran on November 18, 1949. His mother, Mahsoltan Amiri, was of the Bakhtiari tribe of nomads, who raised livestock and migrated twice yearly between summer and winter grazing lands. His father, Ali Akbar Makvandi Ali Moradi, drove a supply truck on classified missions for the Russian army during and after WWII. Gholam Reza was the eldest of four siblings.

Ginny Huxley

Virginia M. Huxley (Ginny) spent her younger years in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, attending Catholic school and church. Later, her parents, Thelma and Michael Joseph Davis, built a beautiful brick home in Bensalem, PA, where Ginny grew up with her older brother, Richard, and younger brother, Gerald. She often spoke about following her father around the garage, as his little apprentice, with a great interest in his tools and projects.

Kris Louden

Members of Mountain View Friends Meeting were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Kris Louden on June 14th of last year. A birthright Quaker, graduate of Earlham College, married under the care of Twin Cities Friends Meeting, and mainstay of Denver Friends for more than 40 years, Kris was a consummate Quaker.

Mark Holiday

Mark Holiday was born and grew up in Valley City, North Dakota. He moved to Minnesota after high school graduation to attend St. John’s University. He soon found a calling in the Catholic Church and spent the next 20 years as a Benedictine monk, in Minnesota and later in the Bahamas. It was in the Bahamas where he began a lifetime of teaching, at St Augustine’s school on Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas.

Margaret Norton Yarrow

Margaret Allida Norton was born in Aurora Illinois, July 15, 1912, the third daughter of Charles and Edith Case Norton. She spent most of her childhood in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Margaret recounted fond memories of her mother, a former teacher crippled by arthritis, sitting with the children around the table helping them with their homework.  Charles was a traveling textbook salesman who was away all week, but when he came home on Friday evening would lie on the floor so his four kids could wrestle with him. Margaret’s parents were strict, with a strong sense of right and wrong.

Judith Gennette

Judith Gennette was born on November 15, 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama. She died early Thanksgiving Day morning, November 24, 2011. She was 60 years old.

She is survived by her husband Richard, and their three children --- Emma and her husband Jason Workman and their son Victor Flores, Ian and his wife Caitey, and youngest daughter Erin.
