…that’s roughly how many issues of Friends Bulletin/ Western Friend have been published since 1929. And back issues of those 79 years of history are now sitting at my house, following a long tradition of storage in the editor’s garage! Luckily, a complete set of back issues resides in Whittier College’s Quaker Collection, where they receive the best of care.
In the meantime, I have nearly eighty years of history sitting in the garage, where I am the only one who gets to enjoy it! Seems to me that Western Friends have a right to access this legacy in some fashion. I dream of a day when we have an online digital archive, but that’s the sort of project that will require a Quaker Angel to fund. While I work on figuring that out, you can expect to see excerpts of some of these back issues appear on the WF website on a regular basis.
